Colt Burgess lever action repeating rifle in .44-40 caliber remaining in original very good plus to near fine condition and showing an original to the period tang sight. This Colt is serial number 5711 and showsapproximately 50% to 70% original blue on barrel and magazine tube that are aging nicely with slight drifting to patina, some minor areas of pinprick pitting and just normal age. The barrel address is sharp. Theoriginal to the period sights are retained on barrel. The frame shows 50% to 70% original blue and the balance drifted to patina with some minor scratches and normal aging. The left side of the frame shows a well definedrampant colt stamp. The forend and butt plate show traces of case hardening within a silvery gray patina. The stocks are very good plus with no cracks in the forend and just light normal handling and minor aging. Thestocks are exceptional for Burgess. There is a cleaning Rod in the butt trap. The action is good, the bore is very good and still somewhat bright. A strong 8 on a 1 to 10 scale.
