This Colt Bisley Model Single Action Revolver was manufactured in 1910 and subsequently returned to Colt for refinish. The revolver has the distinctive elongated humpback frame, curved wide-spur hammer and long curved wide trigger that identify the Bisley Model Single Action. The revolver has a commercial blue barrel, cylinder, trigger guard and back strap and casehardened frame, hammer and loading gate. The black two-piece hard rubber grips are checkered and have the Rampant Colt trademark embossed in an oval at the top of each grip. The top of the barrel is roll-stamped with the one-line legend: "COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. Co. HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A.". "(BISLEY MODEL) 45 COLT" is roll-stamped on the left side of the barrel. The left side of the frame is roll-stamped with the Colt "three-dates/two-line' patent markings followed by the encircled Rampant Colt trademark. The cylinder face is numbered "1220B" with individual numbers stamped between each chamber. The top of the cylinder chambers are stamped with the numbers "1-6". The significance of these markings is not known but they appear to be factory markings. The right rear trigger guard bow is stamped with a six-pointed star that indicates the revolver was factory refinished. The left front trigger guard bow has a very faint Colt "triangle/VP" proofmark. The inside of the loading gate is stamped with the assembly number "3334". The serial number "312430" is stamped on the bottom of the frame, trigger guard and back strap. All of the visible serial numbers match. The back strap serial number has been polished.
BBL: 7 1/2 inch
Stock:
Gauge: 45 Long Colt
Finish: blue/casehardened
Grips: black hard rubber
Serial Number: 312430
Condition: Very fine as factory refinished. The revolver retains nearly 90% of the Colt blue and 80% casehardened finish; the finish is thin on the back strap and grip strap, the cylinder has some edge wear and turn marks and there is some minor finish loss on the left side of the barrel and edges of the ejector housing. The frame, hammer and loading gate have 95% or more of the casehardened finish with strong case colors. The frame screws and trigger have nearly all of the niter blue finish. With the exception of the proofmarks on the trigger guard and the serial number on the back strap the markings are crisp. The bore is bright. The black hard rubber grips are in fine condition with moderate handling wear on the checkering. The action is crisp and functions perfectly. This is a solid example of a Colt Bisley Model Single Action Revolver.
