Colt Bisley Model .38-40 caliber single action revolver with 4 ¾” barrel showing traces of blue and case hardened finish, hard rubber grips, serial number 196644. The barrel shows correct two line address and Bisley model marking. The metal surfaces show a light gray patina with strong traces of blue and case hardening mixed in perhaps as much as 10% to 20%. The markings are all legible though Bisley model is slightly light. The serial numbers are all matching. The front sight is its original full height and shows blue at its base. The grips fit correctly and show some highpoint and edge wear with just normal use. The action is good and the bore is also good. A good-looking Bisley that factory letter confirms shipment to J.F. Schmelzer Kansas City,KS with confirmation of caliber, barrel length, and features. Shipped June 25, 1900 with 200 other guns. Gale Kennedy Historical West Collection. Est.: $1,000- $2,000.
