Colt Army Special, double-action revolver, .38 Special caliber, 4-1/2” barrel, factory high polished blue finish, post-WWII composite Colt grips, factory roll-die engraved “WF & CO” on butt, shipped to W. M.Ashton, Purchasing agent, New York, NY, August 26th, 1908, 24 guns in shipment, serial #301477. Purchased from Butterfield’s Auction of Railway Express Arms, early 1970’s. The revolver shows 50-70% originalhigh polished blue finish, some high point and edge wear from holstering and handling on gripping areas. The grips were replaced after WWII, possibly by Wells Fargo, who used them up until the 1970’s. The markings aregood, the edges are sharp, the bore is excellent. From the Robert Hoelscher Collection.
