Colt .58 caliber rifle musket dated 1864 in original near fine original condition showing bright metal and sharp inspectors cartouches with original bayonet and scabbard. The metal surfaces show their original un-cleaned bright metal finish with just a small amount of beginning light erosion and which has not been cleaned. The edges of the lock are crisp and markings are very sharp including Eagle. The rear sight shows most of itsoriginal quenched arsenal blue type finish. The stock shows 2 small areas of wood filler where a tang sight was neatly removed. The small holes show about a 5 mm area of this wood filler in a round circle (from screws).The remainder of the stock is in very good plus to near fine condition with 2 razor-sharp cartouches and just a few minor dents and gouges. The bore is crisp and bright. The bayonet metal is in very goodcondition with some minor pitting and an original brass tipped scabbard in very good condition with leather hanger is included.
