Colt 3rd model Dragoon with rare 8” barrel, brown patina finish, raised carved ivory grips showing American eagle, in associated case with accessories. Serial #18700. The pistol remains in good original conditionshowing a light grey to brown patina finish, good markings, some light to moderate scattered pitting and erosion and a couple of areas of slightly heavier pitting that are small and mostly on the front edge of thecylinder and lug of barrel. All matching serial numbers, wedge unnumbered but correct type. Bore is surprisingly bright and very good. There has been a repair to the arbor and forcing cone at the breech has beensurfaced slightly. The loading lever latch is a well made replacement and the grips, which are old and nicely carved, are later. The gun is generally good overall and is an acceptable specimen of a rare Dragoon ofwhich only 100 to 200 are estimated to have been produced. The case is a well made older association which shows a green velveteen lining in the partition style which is proportioned correctly and made well and
