Colt #3 derringer with early curved profiled grips and high hammer, factory or period engraved, silver finished, with original to the 19th century hammered silver over wood grips showing engraved initials and Crest ofthe Duke of Bedford. Serial #26028. The pistol shows British proofs and remains in good to very good condition with considerable original silver remaining on barrel, traces on the frame, and unpolished dark patina onthe silver overlaid grips. The hammer shows considerable case hardening, the markings are sharp, the edges are crisp, the bore is excellent. There are a few marks on the rear of the breech from improper closing. Thegrips fit impeccably, the engraving is crisp. The pistol is contained with its English style case that is oversized for a single, lined in blue baize or felt with cleaning rod, cartridge block, and other accessories.The exterior of the case is veneered burl wood, and shows some scratches, normal aging, and brass furniture.
