Colt 3 ½” barrel .38 caliber rim-fire revolver showing 1871 – 1872 patent dates made as a cartridge arm from left over percussion parts, serial number 315538 refer Flayderman 5B – 132. This Colt retainsapproximately 90% to 95% of its original bright blue and case hardened finish. There is some slight loss on the edges and cylinder with some minor scratches and just beginning normal age. The case hardening is fiery andthe blue is very bright. The small parts and screws show bright original blue and finish. There are some minor scratches and nicks beneath the wedge. The hammer shows 90% to 95% bright original case hardening withnearly all of its bright blue on rim-fire firing pin. The varnished wood grips show 90% to 95% original varnish with just some minor losses and slight scratches. All matching visible serial numbers and sharp and crispoverall. A strong 9 plus on 1 to 10 scale and very difficult to find with high blue finish remaining as it was fragile. Est.: $3,500-$7,000.
