Colt 1872 Open Top or old-line .22 caliber revolver with factory 2-1/2” barrel and integral ejector rod housing, nickel plated, wood grips, serial #2640. The pistol remains in fair to good original condition with40-60% original nickel showing some flaking, scratches, and losses, and areas of light pitting where the finish has lifted. The ejector rod is a hand-fashioned old replacement. The barrel and butt match, andthe barrel is marked “P” for plated. The action is good, barrel address is good. Only approx. 2,500 of the early 1872 .22 calibers were made with ejector rod in the first approx. 1-year of production and they arequite scarce. Note: This has the standard type slot in the frame.
