Colt 1872 Open Top .44 rimfire caliber revolver, 7-1/2” barrel, factory nickel plated, varnish wood grips, serial #2763, shipped to J. C. Grubb & Co, Phila. PA, September 6, 1873, 60 guns in shipment.Finish and features confirmed by letter except grips (not listed). The Colt shows 20-40% original nickel, evenly drifting with some light polishing, good sharp barrel address, 60-70% cylinder scene, somescattered light to moderate erosion and pinprick pitting. Front sight has been slimmed. The varnish wood grips are good with some nicks, mars, small losses, slight shrinkage, etc. The markings are good, theaction tight, the bore good. Unusual to draw a letter that confirms factory nickel. Est: $4,000 - $8,000
