Colt 1861 Navy, .36 caliber percussion revolver, New York Style scroll engraved, probably by LD Nimschke, nickel finish, ivory grips, serial #15920. The revolver shows 80-90% darkened period silver finish which is drifting mostly from the cylinder and gripping areas. Areas where the silver has lifted shows some erosion and pinprick pitting with some slight cracking in the old silver plate. The ivory grips are very goodwith a deep yellow patina, some age cracks, small losses, and fit well. The cylinder show 20-30% light scene. The barrel address is sharp, the action is crisp, the interior is very good. A couple of the numbers andletters are slightly indistinct, which is often the case on guns shipped blued to Hartley & Graham, which were engraved and then plated. The pistol shows all matching visible serial numbers, edges are sharp,barrel address crisp, bore good. Some minor pitting on the cylinder and absolutely no cleaning or polishing in modern times. The engraving is of deluxe quality and also original to the period. Est: $7,500 - $15,000
