Colt 1860 Army revolver .44 caliber percussion, 8” barrel, large U.S. stamp on trigger guard, mixed serial numbers, nickel plated, wood grips. These U.S.-marked Armies were assembled from civil war parts and new replacement parts and then shipped West in the early frontier era with many being used in the Indian wars around Arizona and New Mexico. The frame is serial #47398, barrel #26485, the triggerguard is #100, and an arsenal replacement and shows large U.S. The backstrap is #6337. The cylinder shows no number and no scene as is common on this issue. The pistol shows approx. 20-30% old original to the 19th century nickel plate. The areas where the nickel have lifted shows some moderate erosion, darkening, and beginning pitting. The barrel address is light but legible. The Colt’s Patent is good. The grips are not a good fit which is also common on this model. The right grip is carved with the initials “FF” reading from front to backstrap. There are 12 notches carved on the right grip and two on the left. The grips show some small losses and even wear. The action is good, generally good overall.
