Colt 1860 Army 44 cal percussion revolver, early 4 screw civilian production with varnished wood grips and silvered straps #4040. The metal surfaces show a smooth patina with faint traces of blue and casehardening. There are some scattered light to moderate pitting and erosion, approx 10-20% light cyl scene. The trigger guard and back strap show 50-70% silver that has gone to a black patina with some bubbling. Thevarnished wood grips are good to very good with at least 50% varnish and some edge wear, small losses and minor imperfections. All matching visible serial numbers and good markings. The action is working, the borevery good. The stock attachment screw is missing from the frame. This number may be available in factory records. From an old N.Y. collector’s estate.
