Martially marked & inspected single action percussion revolver issued to the Union Army during the American Civil War, manufactured circa 1863. Features an 8" round barrel, German silver blade front sight, 'v' notch rear sight cut into the hammer lip, smooth thin trigger, knurled hammer spur, non-fluted six shot cylinder with roll stamped Naval Engagement scene, loading lever, round brass trigger guard, steel backstrap, shoulder stock cuts in the recoil shield & butt and one-piece oil finished smooth walnut grip with boxed "JT" cartouches for Jerome Towne (1862-63). All observed serial numbers match including the cylinder, frame, trigger guard and backstrap. Inspector marks include: Barrel - "H" & "E". Cylinder - "H" & "E". Trigger guard - "T". & Backstrap - "T". One line New York barrel address Revolver displays a mottled aged grey/brown patina with the cylinder scene mostly gone. Revolver is mechanically excellent. The bore shows strong rifling & scattered light pitting, the remaining markings are crisp/clear, and the walnut grip is very good with no cracks or chips. An early revolver made in the third year of the war. Condition is NRA Very Good. Antique Firearm.
