Model 2 manufactured in 1856. The top barrel flat is marked with the pointing finger, "COLT'S PT./1855" flanked by Maltese crosses and "ADDRESS COL. COLT/HARTFORD, CT. U.S.A." flanked by Maltese crosses. The cylinder is roll engraved with the cabin and Indian scene and the matching serial number is marked on the butt and cylinder. Blue finish with casehardened hammer and loading lever, and fitted with a smooth varnished one-piece walnut grip.

Condition: Fine as partially refinished (barrel). The balance of the revolver retains 60% original blue finish with high edge wear and areas thinned to gray, with a few small areas of minor pitting. The cylinder has a gray patina with some flash pitting and half of the scene remaining. The hammer shows strong, 20% original case colors with a smooth mottled silver gray patina on the balance. The grip is fine with a few small minor chips and minor wear on the lower edges, and a few minor scratches and dings. The cylinder pin screw is a replacement. The action needs work, the cylinder does not rotate when the hammer is cocked. The markings are clear.
