Colt 1849 pocket model, .31 caliber percussion, 6” barrel, blue and case hardened finish, varnish wood grips, one-line NY address, 6-shot cylinder serial #209948. The backstrap is original period inscribed “W.W. Noyes, Company I, 23rd Reg. M.M.” for Maine Militia. The revolver remains in very good plus to near fine original condition showing 60-80% original blue on barrel, evenly thinning and toning with some beginning rust, erosion, and minor pinprick pitting. The cylinder shows 80-90% well-defined cylinder scene. A light grey brown patina with some traces of original finish mixed in. And some light pinprick pitting at front and rear from firing. The frame shows 50-70% case hardening going to grey with still very colorful areas where protected. The hammer shows 20% case hardening going to patina. The loading lever shows 75-85% case hardening with some bright and fiery rainbow hues. The straps show a nice patina with a few spots of darkened silver. The varnish wood grips are very good with 50-60% varnish, some wear at the edges from carry in a holster, some small chips and wear at the edges. Consistent with military use. The markings are sharp, the action good, the interior bright. All matching visible
