Produced without sights, with a screw-on cannon barrel and the initials "D M" in script on the lock plate below the flash pan. Smooth stock, with an engraved brass flat tip, engraving on the trigger guard and reverse plate, raised carvings around the lock plate, reverse and tang, and a brass buttcap. Has characteristics of both English and American influence due to the maple stock and stepped initialized lock plate.

Condition: Good, with a mixed brown and gray patina, along with scattered pitting and handling marks. A section of metal is absent from the top of the barrel, which is a casting flaw and goes back to early American manufacturing using sub standard material. The front trigger guard finial is absent. Stock is good, with a number of scattered tiny holes overall, light chips and dings. Mechanically needs work.
