Offered in this lot is a Colonial Revival Tapered Splat Back Spindle Child's Dining Chair, circa early 1900s. Features hardwood tapered splat back and seat, turned legs, cross stretchers and rear stiles, scrolled top rail and splat. Splat is flanked by spindles. Impressive craftsmanship from an era known for its artistic furniture styles. Colonial Revival style in furniture and architecture imitated or freely interpreted American designs from the Pilgrim to Federal eras. Begun in the 1880s, it became the dominant style of the early 20th century. Proportions were narrower and more slender than 18th-century originals. This child's chair is in good overall condition, normal age related splitting noted to seat, appears chair has had previous repairs to age related splitting. Original stain colour faded in places. Normal use related scratches and indentations to seat noted. Measures 17.5"W x 18"D x 36"H; seat is 14.5"W x 1812.5"D
