A) This revolver is the civilian model 1868 (made in 12mm) designed by Charles F. Galand, a French gunsmith. These pistols have a unique trigger guard extraction system where the trigger guard acts as a lever to move the barrel and cylinder forward on the cylinder arbor pin and moving an extractor ring to remove cartridge cases from the cylinder. Fixed sights with checkered hammer and smooth trigger. Serial number is marked on the right side of the barrel underneath the "C.F.G." Galand proof. The number "4012" is marked under the charging lever. Other markings scattered on various parts. The grips are checkered walnut with lanyard ring on butt.

Condition: Good, revolver has a bright finish with some slight pitting in areas on the surface. Grips are good with handling marks and some minor wear on the checkering. The trigger has to be manually pushed forward to fire the gun in double action. Needs trigger return spring.
- B) Fixed sights, this pistol has the same unique trigger guard extraction system where the trigger guard acts as a lever to move the barrel and cylinder forward on the cylinder arbor pin away from the extractor which is attached to the cylinder well just below the firing pin, this action removes the spent casings. Also, when the loading gate bar is lifted up the hammer goes back to free the cylinder for turning. "P.POLAIN" marked over "BREUFTE" with the serial number "387" underneath. The grips are two-piece checkered walnut with a metal diamond insert on the right grip, the lanyard ring is missing on butt.

Condition: Refinished with half of the blue finish remaining on the barrel, receiver, trigger guard/extractor lever and cylinder, the remaining finish is a grayish patina. There are three filed plugs. Some edge and high area wear. The grips are good with some areas of wear on the checkering with a non-factory diamond shaped plaque inlaid in top right panel. The action is crisp.
