A) German silver blade front and notch rear sights with a zig-zag stamped "P" and "DERINGER/PHILADELA" on the silver band flanked breech. "DERINGER/ PHILADELA" is repeated on the lock plate. Fine scroll engraving is visible on the tang, hammer, lock, bolster, accent plate, reverse plate and trigger guard, the latter of which has a pineapple finial, blossoms on the escutcheons, a zig-zag bordered inscription shield, and a smooth bordered buttplate with floral patch box lid. Checkered stock, with a silver accent plate on the tip and a bird's head butt.

Condition: Good, with a dark gray and brown patina on the barrel and lock, showing minor spotting, handling marks and a small amount of pitting, chiefly concentrated around the nipple. The silver has taken on a deep aged patina, with the breech bands in particular showing a nearly untouched antique black. Stock is fair, with mended cracks around the escutcheons and tang, smoothing of the checkering, and an attractive grain pattern. Mechanically very good.
- B) Measuring in at a total length of 4 5/8 inches. Brass blade front and notch rear sights with "P" stamped in the upper left flat and "DERINGER/PHILADELa" on the top flat. "DERINGER/PHILADELa" is marked on the lock plate, with scroll engraving. Checkered birds head stock, with a silver tip, left escutcheon and buttplate, and the rest of the furniture German silver, with "AET" scratched into the inside of the trigger guard.

Condition: Poor, with a mixed gray patina overall, some fading of the lock address, and mild handling marks overall. Cracks are visible on the stock, scattered dents and the checkering worn smooth. Mechanically good. Hammer is a crude replacement.
