A) Blade front sight and hammer notch rear sight, with the barrel having the two line Hartford address on top (without Maltese crosses) and the left side of the frame stamped "22 CAL". The sides of the frame feature an extensive scroll and punch dot engraving with line and dot motif around the hammer and extending to the backstrap. The sides of the barrel have a dot and zigzag line motif with star bust patterns. The cylinder has a fancy triple line and dot pattern. Seven shot non-fluted cylinder, brass bird head frame, and fitted with smooth grips. Nickel finished with niter blue hammer, spur trigger and screws. Matching serial number on the barrel and butt.
BBL: 2 3/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 22 RF
Finish: nickel
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 106427
Condition: Very fine. The barrel retains approximately 40% original nickel finish and limited traces of nickel on the cylinder, with the overall balance a smooth gray patina. The frame retains approximately 90% original nickel finish with the exposed brass mostly in the engraving, along with some minor notches near the hammer and some light flaking. The screws, hammer and trigger have a smooth dark patina mixed with limited traces of niter blue finish. There is some minor pitting on the barrel and cylinder, with the barrel slightly loose. The grips also are very fine with some minor dings (mostly on the bottom of the right panel), with most of the varnish remaining. Action needs work as the cylinder does not rotate everytime.
- B) Second Model, produced in 1875. Nickel finish with bird head grips. Standard two line Hartford barrel address, etched "COLT NEW 38" on the left barrel side, and "38 CAL C" on the left side of the frame. Matching numbers on barrel and frame, with the number "406" on rear cylinder face.
BBL: 2 1/4 inch round
