For your consideration is this Collection of Pre 1920s Gold & silver Hatpins. Prized by antique collectors today, hatpins were commonplace and controversial. They ranged in size between 6 and 12 inches long depending on the size of the hat they needed to secure to a woman's head. Hatpin makers marketed their products to the various levels of society, ranging from the extremely ornate and expensive to the simple and functional. The heyday of the hatpin was between the 1880's and 1920’s, after which hair styles became short and the hats became smaller making the pins unnecessary. In this collection there are an assortment of styles from victorian sterling silver to regal solid 10K gold hat pin with real Zircon set into the face. One of the hat pins is solid gold with a head of pearl with small zircon stones set into its face The first Victorian era hatpin is gold enameled with a blunt knife edge pin, where the second is fashioned in the shape of a dueling sword set with sterling silver. The measurements range from 6" long to 2 1/4" long. The collective weight of these hatpins are .35 troy ounces.
