Cole Agee Style David Harris Signed Cattle Brand Engraved Colt Single Action Army Revolver with Carv

Estimate: $6500 - 9500
This is an example of a cattle brand and scroll custom engraved Colt Single Action Army revolver originally manufactured in 1918, and subsequently embellished by Master Engraver David Wade Harris. Harris was taught the art of cattle brand engraving by Weldon Bledsoe, who had in turn learned the art from Cole Agee. Except for the trigger guard, front strap, cylinder flutes and hammer, the revolver is covered with cattle brands and floral scroll engraving with a stippled background. The most recognizable cattle brand is the 2 lazy 2 P brand on the left side of the barrel. The famous 101 Ranch logo is also engraved on one of the cylinder chambers. There is a feather design on the top edge of the ejector housing. The butt is signed "D W HArris". The standard barrel, (address barely visible) and frame, (patent dates partially visible) markings remain with "41 COLT" in a panel on the left side of the barrel. The revolver is fitted with a one-piece ivory grip with a steer head carved on the right side.
