Clip point Bowie knife by G. Woodhead showing reclining lion, pommel in coffin shape, pearl gripscales, with original scabbard; blade shows number 36 Howard Street Sheffield address on ricasso. The blade shows somesharpening and use, light to moderate pitting and erosion and general honest wear. The pearl grips are good with some small losses, minor cracks, staining and aging. The pommel is in good condition with well defined lion; the scabbard is good with some folding, split at the edges, normal aging. The button hangar is missing. Woodhead was one of the very best makers of the mid-19th century and the reclining lion is rarer thanhalf horse/half alligator. When in fine condition, these knives often show gold rush era scenes and sayings. Est.: $5,000-$10,000

Checkout Date & Times: You may checkout during the auction each day and at our business location after the auction. We are open Tuesday thru Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and Saturday 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Little John's will be closed the Friday after the auction. Preview on October 27th 7 28th 9:00 to 11:00 am each day.

Little John's will pay for packing and materials. Buyer pays actual costs of shipping and insurance. All International purchases will be sent to an exporter for shipment to foreign countries. International buyers agree to pay all cost incurred including all shipping, insurance, exporter fees, all custom and duty fees associated with shipment. Post 1898 firearms must be shipped to a Federal Firearms Licensee in your place of residence. All Federal, State and Local Regulations apply and MUST be strictly followed.
