Classic Winchester Model 1887 lever action shotgun, 10 gauge, barrel reduced to 24”, heavy dark patina on metal surfaces and heavily weather worn wood stocks with brass repair to both sides of the wrist area of the butt stock and anauthentic Southern Express Co. 1 brass ID tag attached to the right side of the butt stock; action is working, bore is dark; steel butt plate remains; in un-cleaned condition showing years of carry and travel in a rail car, wagon or both;this one definitely did not sit in the comfort of an agent’s inner office; a great Express Co. artifact! Accompanied by a Southern Express Company-marked envelope dated January 18, 1868 with red wax sealed back, an 1894 dated receiptand information on the founder of Southern Express Co., Henry B.
