Classic Scottish Flintlock pistol with rams’ horn shaped butt and finely engraved brass barrel, lock signed but only “Wm___ St____” legible with registration #9K-5 1265 on barrel. We would date the gun 1690-1725 andit shows quality engraving and early construction with copper flux used to attach rams horn to the stock. The original engraved and pierced belt hook is retained and original small parts and hammer. Ramrodis a brass tipped old replacement of the correct style. One branch of the curled portion of butt has been broken and needs to be reattached. The stock shows some dents, wear and aging but is good. The silver balltype trigger shows a dent and some general aging. The barrel is uncleaned and shows fairly sharp engraving. A very attractive and early Highland pistol that would improve with slight restoration. From an old NewYork collector’s estate. Est.;$3,000-$6,000.
