Clash Of The Titans (1981) Screen Used Joppa Soldier's Shield Prop - The last great hurrah for legendary and beloved stop motion visual effects artist Ray Harryhausen was the massively successfully fantasy adventure extravaganza "Clash of the Titans" (1981). Harryhausen was still at the top of his form creating the effects and creatures for this story based on Greek mythology. The hero is Perseus, a mortal that is able to fight against the forces of the Gods (lead by Laurence Olivier as Zeus). In order to marry the Princess Andromeda (Judi Bowker), he must answer a series of riddles, Just one wrong answer will get him burned at the stake. In one of the major sequences inside the Temple of Joppa Perseus storms down the massive hall flanked on either side by the Joppa Soldiers in order to win Andromeda's hand. Among the beautifully designed sets, props and costumes are the iconic Joppa soldier's shields seen to great effect in this sequences, and in the pageantry that follows. This is one of the actual screen used hero Joppa soldier's shields used in the production. It comes from the personal coveted collection of Jerry Neeley, well-known film historian, collector and owner of the famous "Jerry's Video" in Los Feliz, CA. Customers, collectors and throngs of industry people would come from miles to talk to Jerry, whose knowledge and memory were encyclopedic. This highly recognizable prop from this beloved classic fantasy comes with a Letter of Provenience from Jerry Neely's widow and co-owner of his various video and memorabilia shops.
