Civil War major of infantry frock coat in dark blue wool with New York Eagle buttons that are marked Waterbury button company, extra. The coat is double-breasted with 14 buttons on front all original except onereplaced. Description of this uniform by noted dealer The Horse Soldier of Pennsylvania is included and describes as follows, ”Some buttons are loose some with original thread and some re-sewn. Each cuffwith 3 New York buttons, major shoulder straps with blue wool centers and gold bullion oak leaves showing single row borders. The velvet lined collar appears to have been worn folded down. Quilted blackwool/silk lining, very fine with some minor wear. Single slit pocket in left breast. Exterior of coat with some minor moth holes all very small and scattered. Sleeve is lined with fine cotton. Tails with all 4 originalNew York buttons. Cuffs exhibit normal signs of wear with material slightly worn through an sleeve lining also torn.
