The saber has a 35 inch double fuller blade, marked "U.S./ C.E.W/ 1862" on the obverse ricasso and "D.J. MILLARD/CLAYVILLE N.Y." in an arch on the reverse. The saber has a brass hilt, with 2-branch guard and brown leather grip cover wrapped with twisted wire. The Ordnance inspection mark "C.E.W." is stamped in two places on the Phrygian helmet pommel. "A.H. Bowman" is lightly scratched on the top and bottom of the counter-guard. The regulation iron scabbard is browned and is stamped "C.E.W." on the drag. The saber is complete with a regulation rusett Model 1902 Saber knot.

Condition: Very good. The blade retains most of the original polish and a few edge dings on the blade. The hilt has a dark patina. The scabbard is very good with nearly all of the browned finish and a few minor dings. The scarce saber knot is excellent. The leather grip cover and wire wrap are very good.
