Identified with a tag as being Will Handy of Wheeling, Va., before it became West Virginia, 2 3/4" wide by 3 1/4" tall, original oval ornate lining, soldier is shown with touched up gold buttons and slightly colored cheeks, is wearing a hat, and posing against a painted background. The original wood covered case is covered with a circular design and is totally separated at the joint. The original hook for closing is still intact. There is a band with a buckle around his hat with the buckle clearly visible above the left eye, the cuffs of his jacket are in a v shape in the direction going toward his elbow.
