Manufactured circa 1858 to 1863, this carbine is fitted with a sling bar, ring, Lawrence folding rear sight graduated to 800 yards, a Lawrence pellet primer and a iron mounted including the desirable patch box. The top of the barrel is marked with the three line Sharps address ahead of the rear sight and "NEW MODEL 1859" at the breech. The left rear of the barrel is stamped "A.H.K.". The lock is marked with the Sharps and Lawrence patent dates and the upper left side of the receiver is marked with the Sharps patent date. The rear sight base is marked with the three line Lawrence patent marking. The serial number is marked on the upper tang. Brass blade front and folding carbine rear sights and mounted with a smooth walnut forearm and straight grip stock with iron buttplate and two clear boxed cartouches on the left wrist. Comes with a small wooden plaque with inscribed brass plate.

Condition: Very good. The barrel has a smooth mottled brown patina. The remaining metal surfaces have a smooth mottled dark and silver gray patina. The stock is good as freshened. There is a 5 inch section of the stock toe that has been repaired, otherwise there are only a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent.
