Martially marked & inspected single action percussion revolver issued to the Union Army during the civil war, circa 1863. Features an 8" barrel with "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA-" marking, silver blade front sight, notched rear sight, loading lever, non-fluted six shot cylinder with roll stamped naval engagement scene, brass triggerguard, checkered hammer spur, shoulder stock cuts in the recoil shield & backstrap and one-piece smooth walnut grip with an illegible cartouche. Barrel address is good, patent markings are sharp, cylinder scene is approximately 37% intact and all serial numbers match. Inspector marks; "L" on the barrel, "C" & "S" on cylinder, & "D" on the front strap. Revolver exhibits no remaining finish and shows an aged brass patina on the triggerguard, an even dark grey patina on the frame and a light grey patina with drifting brown tones on the balance of the metal surfaces. Action performs well, bore is very good+ with some dark scattered pitting & good rifling and walnut grip is very good with losses at the toe on both sides of the grip frame.
