Civil War Cooper 2nd Model Double Action Navy Model Percussion Revolver, #43, .36 cal., 4'' octagonal barrel marked ''Cooper Fire Arms Mfg. Co. Frankford Phila. PA. / Pat. Jan 7, 1861 Apr 25, 1854 Sep. 4, 1860 / Sep 1, 1863 Sep 22, 1863'' in three lines, small brass post front sight and hammer notch rear sight, undecorated 5-shot rebated cylinder, brass grip straps with the large triggerguard distinctive to this maker. Originally blued finish, with one-piece walnut grips. Condition is very good with medium toned gunmetal gray steel having hints of blue in protected areas of barrel, and age toned brass. Grips are very good and fit well with a few marks on right side and retain perhaps 40% original varnish. All visible serial numbers match. Action is crisp and tight, bore is dark with visible rifling and should clean. A desirable Secondary Martial Civil War handgun having an uncharacteristically low serial number. Est.: $650-$950.
