The lot features an attractive whimsical beaded hide sheath and old trade knife from the Chippewa Native American Indians dating to circa 1890-1900’s. The knife shows a bone handle with clip point and long blade showing a worn patina blade, typical of a trade knife most likely from a kitchen or butcher set. The sheath shows an Indian tanned Moose hide over a harness leather liner showing a colorful floral whimsical beaded pattern in typical Chippewa or Ojibwe fashion. The beadwork shows all glass trade seed beads in chalk white, Cheyenne pink, red white hearts, greasy blue, greasy green, sky padre blue and cobalt. The sheath shows trade clothe ties still attached. Provenance: From the ex-collection of Cyrus Eaton of London, England. Sheath measures 8 ½ inches long by 2 inches wide, Knife is 12 inches in length.
