Offered for public purchase is this terrific and artful authentic circa late 19th Century Skullcracker (Skull Cracker) War Club attributed to the Northern Cheyenne Native American Indians. The piece exhibits wonderful art appeal featuring a rarer style of red stone head on a long slender haft with wrapped Indian tanned hide. The piece is adorned with wraps of fringe and glass trade seed beads with the war club ending in a tossled long buckskin Indian tanned hide fringe drip with excellent patina. The longer handled war clubs such as this example are very unusual and would have been used in battle on horseback. The piece shows very fine condition with minor and expected wear from age and use. From the Ex Collection of Ben Thompson. The piece measures overall 25” in length with a 5.5” wide head and additional 18” long fringe.
