Charles M. Russell Indian Women Traveling Print
For your consideration in this lot we have a print of Native American women traveling on horse back by Charles Russell. Charles Marion Russell (March 19, 1864 – October 24, 1926),also known as C. M. Russell, Charlie Russell, and "Kid" Russell, was an artist of the Old American West. Russell created more than 2,000 paintings of cowboys, Indians, and landscapes set in the Western United States and in Alberta, Canada, in addition to bronze sculptures. Known as 'the cowboy artist', Russell was also a storyteller and author. The print displays a group of female Indians taking a short break from travel to rest the horses and let a young fowl drink. The print shows blue cloudy skies with some mountains in the background and a pair of dogs in the foreground. The piece shows wonderful attention to detail and landscape. The piece is signed in the bottom left corner reading "CM Russell 1897". The piece is set into a wood frame with a off white border around the art. The piece shows good condition overall. The frame measures 21" wide by 17 1/4" tall with the art measuring 15 3/4" wide by 11 1/4" tall.
