Central European 16th century style fighting broadsword assembled from genuine to the period parts and later replaced blade. The sword measures 50” overall with 43” blade that measures nearly 2” wide at the widest point. The hilt and pommelshow quality forging and construction with copper flux. The grip is covered in a old leather which is cracking and looks very good. The blade shows an armorer’s type marking but is too consistent in the aging and though hard to detect is just notquite formed right. Genuine armor period weapons were rare in Europe even over 100 years ago and Spitzer and several other firms restored and re-created arms and armor. This is an extremely good-looking antique piece with a later blade that would full most collectors and many experts. Note: the blade is tempered correctly. Est.: $1400-$2800
