Cased pair of flintlock pistols by D.Egg of London, circa approx. 1800, 14-3/4” overall, 9-1/4” barrels of approx. .67 caliber smoothbore. The pistols are full stocked to the muzzles with nicely checkered wrists ingood quality walnut. The pair shows characteristic squared guards which are a trademark of this fine maker. The pistols are in their original flintlock configuration and show English-quality rebrowned barrels,gold touch holes and lines at breech. The locks are sharp with crisp engraving and are in their original flintlock configuration. The pistols are in very good plus to near fine condition and retain original ramrods.The interior of the case is expertly and correctly relined in green wooly felt which is undoubtedly accomplished by a master English gunsmith. The set retains a correct flask, early cleaning rod, scissor type mold, and shows an excellent facsimile label in the lid. The exterior of the case is veneered in mahogany with brass fittings, some cracks, small losses, normal aging, and good overall. This is the pair’s original case in
