Cased pair of Wesley Richards percussion belt pistols, .68 cal., 4” twist steel barrels, case hardened locks and hammers, swivel ramrods, checkered wood stocks, belt hooks, matching serial #s 305; a true matching pair by a famous maker; matching in parts and condition with single banded breeches, sharp markings, crisp actions, considerable original blue on engraved trigger guards, original case colors retained in protected areas of both hammers and lockplates; both barrels show considerable original twist patterns, both wood stocks are overall very good to fine with only minor storage mars from handling. The original case maintains the majority of its original green lining with some spots of wear and loss; the trade label inside the lid is near complete with some staining; there are three covered compartments and the accessories include a rosewood handled rod with brass fixture for removing lead balls from the barrel; an iron bullet mold; some lead balls, a Eley Bro. cap tin, a Sykes brass powder flask, a wood handled screwdriver and some cork discs; the exterior of the box is very good with an inlaid brass carry handle and some scattered old mars and scratches from storage. A beautiful set by a quality maker; dates to approx. 1844 based on serial number. Est.: $6,000-$12,000.
