Cased Set of Two Howard Dove Master Engraved Second Generation Colt Percussion Revolvers with Ivory Grips, Factory Letters and Accessories -A) Colt 1851 Navy Revolver


A) This set of revolvers has class "D" acanthus floral scroll engraving that was expertly executed by Colt Master Engraver Howard Dove. The barrel, barrel lug and back strap have near full coverage with flourishes on the flat sides of the loading lever and on the trigger guard bow. Fitted with a smooth one piece ivory grip. The factory letter confirms the configuration, the type of grips are "Not Listed", that it was furnished with accessories, that it was shipped to Fin Feather Sport Shop Inc. on August 24th, 1979 and that it was processed on order #10944. With a Colt "woodgrain" box with a Custom Shop label matching the gun, a walnut display case lined in wine colored velvet, an empty cap tin, a two cavity bullet mold, a powder flask and a screwdriver/nipple wrench.

Excellent, 99% plus of the original blue finish remains with only slight handling/storage marks. The casehardened components retain 98% of the fiery case colors with some minor freckling and some light scratches on the ramrod. 99% plus of the silver plating remains with some discoloration/residue on the front strap. The ivory grip is also excellent. The box is good with edge wear, tears and indentions. The case is very good with some scattered scratches, light dings and some cracks in the lid. The accessories are all very good or better.

B) Similar to the "A" gun. The factory letter confirms the configuration with the type of stocks as "Not Listed", that it was shipped to Fin Feather Sport Shop Inc. on August 24th, 1979 and that it was processed on order #10994. With a Colt "woodgrain" box with missing end flap, a walnut display case lined in wine colored velvet, a powder flask, a key, a two cavity bullet mold, cap tin and a screwdriver/nipple wrench.

The casehardened components retain 99% of the fiery case colors with some light scratches on the ramrod. The very good ivory grip has some age cracks mostly on the left side. The case is very good with scattered scratches, light dings and wear. The accessories are all very good or better. The box is fair.
