A) This lot consists of a cased pair of exceptional deluxe French breech loading parlor pistols with accessories. The top flat of the barrel is engraved "Fd Claudin Brevete a Paris" in a bold Old English style script. The number "1" is engraved behind the notch rear sight. A proof is stamped on the rear of the left barrel flat. The hammer spur is checkered and features a line and dot engraved pattern with the top rear of the hammer having a border engraving. The upper tang, spur trigger guard and butt cap also featuring an engraving. The half stock features a deep relief floral carved pattern on the underside of the forearm and the grip area has deep flutes. The stock is nicely figured varnished walnut. The two pistols are held in a wooden case lined with green felt and has eight compartments (two with lids). The inside of the padded lid has "FD. CLAUDIN BTR./PARIS" highlighted in gold. The case also holds the following accessories: two horn tipped rods, James Dixon & Sons oiler and round container holding approximately 70 cartridges with an acorn head stamp.

Condition: Excellent. The barrel retains 97% bright original blue finish showing mild handling marks and some mild thinning. The remaining metal surfaces have a bright appearance with some minor pitting (mostly on the trigger guard.) The stock is also excellent with a few scattered minor handing marks and retaining nearly all of the varnish. Mechanically excellent. The case is very fine with some minor handling marks and a couple hairline cracks with worn lining. The accessories are fine.
- B) As described in "A", but with a different engraved pattern on the trigger guard, buttcap and upper tang, the number "2" engraved behind the rear sight and a different pattern on the hammer spur (checkered with light floral engraving).

Condition: Excellent. The barrel retains 95% bright original blue finish showing some thinning to a brown. The remaining metal surfaces have an overall bright appearance with some scattered light pitting. The stock is also excellent with a few scattered minor handling marks and retaining nearly all of the varnish. Mechanically excellent.
