A) The top of the barrel rib is marked "SMITH & WESSON'S PATENT MASS", partial "crown/N" and Liege proofs on the front cylinder face, a "crown/N" on the right rear of the barrel and the number "1" on the back on the barrel. The dates marked around the center of the cylinder. 5 round cylinder, blade front and notch rear sights, nickel finish with casehardened hammer and fitted with smooth varnished burl walnut grips. Complete in a wooden case with recessed brass handle and shield inscribed "JB" on the lid, brass corner protectors and re-inforcing bars and hunter green French cut lining. Also included is a small 3 inch by 2 1/2 inch tin type and a blue Confederate States of America Treasury Department seal.

Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 90% original nickel finish with scattered minor flaking and some minor pitting on the cylinder. The grips are excellent with 99% original varnish showing a few minor dings and handling marks. The markings are clear. The action is excellent. The case is good with a slightly warped lid and a repair on the left side of the lid. The corner protectors are a bit ill-fitting. The lining shows some wear. The tin type is missing the lid and the seal is excellent.

Condition: Very fine. The revolver retains 95% original nickel finish with some minor flaking and a drag line on the cylinder. The grips are excellent with 98% original varnish remaining and showing a few minor dings. The markings are crisp and clear. The action is excellent.
