Manufactured from 1857 to the late 1860s, this Warner Patent revolver is one of a few hundred Second Model, first variation chambered for 28 caliber percussion and round barrel. The Warner Pocket Model was the most popular and best selling firearm of the time. The cylinder has an etched floral motif with no visible patent marking. The top strap has the one line address. A floral scroll engraving is featured on the frame, along with a line engraved motif on the back strap. The number "40" is stamped on the left side of the frame under the grip and on the back of both grips. Brass post front and hammer notch rear sights, brass trigger guard, and fitted with two piece smooth walnut grips. Complete with a partitioned wooden case lined in brown velvet, along with the following accessories: cap tin, double face shell pattern powder flak, screwdriver and single conical bullet mold.
BBL: 3 7/8 inch round
Stock:
Gauge: 28 Percussion
Finish: blue
Grips: walnut
Serial Number: 3048
Condition: Very good. The revolver retains traces of original blue finish in the protected areas (strongest around the trigger guard) with the balance a smooth brown patina. Traces of the etching remain, with the engraving remaining crisp. There is a chip missing from the left panel at the bottom, otherwise the grips are very good with most of the varnish remaining and numerous minor dings and scratches with a few minor pressure dents. The case is fine with a refinished exterior and slightly worn original lining.
