This is a beautiful matched pair of deluxe, fully engraved and magnificently stocked set of Winchester marked Model 21 shotguns complete in a two-gun leather carrying case. The action is beautifully engraved with tight English scroll work, with a Germanic deep relief oak leaf pattern on the fences and with four matching deep relief hunting scene panels on each shotgun with gold wire filled "PIGEON/GRADE" on the bottom and a geometric border pattern separating each of the engraving styles and hunting panels. There is a hunting dog in a field scene on each side, two pheasants in a field scene on the bottom and the head of a hunting dog on the trigger guard. The same engraving pattern extends to the break lever and trigger guard, with a gold "I" and "II" on the break lever. The lay out of each engraving area or panel is impeccable and the level of detail of all of the engraving and the consistency of the coverage and exactness in comparing each shotgun side by side can only be accomplished by an expert engraver. Tang mounted safety with gold "SAFE", single trigger with selector with gold barrel selection markings and each is mounted with a multi point checkered AAA+ select feathered crotch walnut English style straight grip stocks with a checkered bare butt and gold initial oval. Both shotguns are 16 gauge with a single red bead sight on a matte vent rib, 2 3/4 inch chambers, choked full/modified, with ejectors. The breech end of the rib is marked in gold "I", (A), and "II", (B), as are the respective forearm knuckles. There is a 2 3/4 inch wedge of the same scroll engraving on the breech end sides of the barrels and the forearm hardware also has the same engraving design. The barrel flats, lugs, breech face and ejectors are jeweled. The forearms are AAA+ select feathered crotch, multi point checkered walnut with an ebony forend insert and jeweled internal hardware. This basic pair of shotguns were reportedly manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and was then transferred in the white to the Connecticut Shotgun Manufacturing company (as all the parts are marked with a small circular "WS" proof) where they received their deluxe engraving, embellishment, wood fitting, gold inlays and final finish. The shotguns are complete in a deluxe hand made, leather covered, oak case with brass reinforcing corners, that measures 15 X 35 inches, lined in a red felt cloth with individual compartments for the shotgun barrels and stocked actions. Inside the lid of the case it has a small paper label that reads "WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO/New Haven, Connecticut/ Model 21/ WINCHESTER". Also comes with a two piece wooden cleaning rod in a leather pouch, brass jags and brushes, two nickel snap and oiler. Length of pull is 14 1/4 inches.
