Cased English Owen Powell Sheffield Marked Double Action Pepperbox Pistol
Owen Powell was a gunmaker at 66 Market Street, Sheffield, England from 1847 to 1862. The left side of the frame is marked "OWEN - POWELL", the right side "SHEFFIELD", the serial number is marked on one of the barrels and Birmingham proofs on each flute. Floral scroll engraving on the frame. Trigger guard and hammer sides. Sliding hammer safety and finely checkered one piece walnut grip with engraved butt cap with compartment and silver thumb oval. Complete in a wooden case with green felt lining, brass shield on the lid, powder flask, ebony handled cleaning rod and bullet mold.

Condition: Very good. The metal surfaces have been cleaned bright with some scattered minor pitting on the barrels. The grip is very good with a few minor bruises and dings, and crisp checkering. The engraving and markings are clear. Mechanically fine. The case is about good with a crack along the rear edge of the lid, partially separated. The lining has a small area of material worn away, otherwise good. The accessories are good.
