Cased 2nd model Le Mat revolver with extra cylinder showing some restoration, serial number 1122. The revolver shows an old European high quality refinish of which 30% to 50% thinning blue remains and is evenly thinning and toning with traces of case hardening on cylinder and colorful case hardening on the hammer. The grips are lightly refreshed and at least very good. The barrel address and edges fairly crisp. All matching visible serial numbers. It is interesting to note that this Le Mat revolver shows no proofs or makers trademarks just the Col. La Mat, Paris address which is not uncommon as there are many variations in marking and manufacturing details. (Refer Flayderman 10-103). There are a couple of small casting flaws in the barrel. The revolver is contained within a Rosewood box with brass furniture that is lined in the French fitted style in green felt. The case includes an extra cylinder which is expertly made but of a later vintage. The case remains in very good condition with some fraying and impressions and normal wear. The Le Mat will only fit in the bottom compartment as the case is fitted extremely close. Le Mats are always desirable and collectible and it would be interesting to add a second pistol to this set as we know of no other pair of double cased Le Mat’s. est.: $14,000-$28,000.
