Carved First Nations Hockey Skate - commissioned as a donation from grateful parents to the BC Children's Hospital.

This is a beautiful piece that parents of DR had commissioned to show their support to the BC Children's Hospital. The carving of the Skate and Puck was completed by BC Artist Ryan Pakkalen. The native carving was completed by BC Native Artist from the Musqueam Band - Chris Sparrow.
A Note from the Parents:
Good day...
In 2016 my son DR was in BC Children's hospital for three days in a coma just a few days short of his second birthday. If not for the ICU staff at this facility, he would have died before that. All proceeds from the sale of this item goes to BC Children's Hospital Foundation in full. If auction fees are waived, then it all goes directly to the foundation with you taking a tax deduction for the full amount.
I only contributed my time in commissioning this piece, as did both artists, and both should be commended for their contribution to this cause for my son. Since only time was donated for the three of us, the purchase price of this art can be considered a donation to charity...so please bid for the cause. You might be saving another life like Dayton's.
The artist that carved this skate is a close friend and professional carver who donated his time. His name is Ryan Pakkalen and the carving will come with his information. The second artist who donated his time is Chris Sparrow. A Salish artist who took Ryan's work and added a West Coast Native twist. Again, his information will come with the art. This was a team effort.
While my son was in the ICU the nurses not only gave me a room to sleep in so I didn't have to leave but brought a twin bed to the ICU so my wife could co-sleep with my son while he was nonresponsive and had almost no brain activity. He came back to life thanks to the doctor's and nurse's professionalism and expertise. He is now alive and well with no ill effects.
I wish I could start the bidding at $1,000,000, realistically that is beyond the scope of my dreams. I beg you to start high and finish higher though. Every little bit helps. The art and the children are worth it.

After the completion of the auction, the credit card on file of the successful bidders will be charged automatically and bidders will be emailed an invoice.
