Cartier Cognac decanter and four snifters presented by Mr. Robert Petersen and his wife Margie to John Wayne. John Wayne and Robert Peterson became associated through Mr. Frank Pachmyer who had built rifles for Mr. Wayne.Mr. Wayne and his wife invited Frank Pachmyer and his wife Nannita and the Petersens for dinner aboard the yacht “Wild Goose” docked in Newport Harbor. At this dinner Mr. Peterson presented the Duke with this set ofCartier leaded black crystal and Frank Pachmyer who was known for being outspoken asked Bob Petersen “where was his set?”. Later Margie presented Frank an identical set as she was known for her kindness. This setwhich was the original set gifted to Wayne by Mr. Peterson was re-gifted to John Wayne’s closest friend Chick Iversen noted Southern California car dealer who sold and traded it to Jerry Bryant in a long-winded car deal ata later date. An interesting letter of provenance is included by this well known collector in included.
