Ca. 1900-1915 Navajo Crystal Trading Post Rug
This is an original circa 1900-1915 Navajo Crystal Trading Post J.B. Moore Rug with rare crosses within serrated diamonds pattern. The rug has been professionally cleaned with restoration to binding by Robert Mann of Denver, Colorado. The Crystal Trading Post was established in 1896 and was located on the Navajo Reservation in far western New Mexico, high up in the Chuska Mountains. The proprietor J.B. Moore would sell the local weavers rugs at the trading post and by mail-order catalog in 1903 and 1911 to people in the eastern U.S., with this rug dating to that era. The rug exhibits hand spun fine wool with natural vegetable dyes of red, black and greys with natural whites. The rug is very well kept and exhibits nice lazy lines and a very tight consistent weave. The rug measures a large 60” by 42” without the corner tassels.
