C. 1900- Montana Brewing Co. Great Falls Box
For your consideration is this early 1900s, pre-prohibition Montana Brewing Company wood beer crate from Great Falls, Montana. The Montana Brewing Company building was constructed in 1893, and operated until the company went out of business due to prohibition in 1919. After the repeal of Prohibition, the brewery was acquired by Emil Sick in 1933. Emil's New company was called Great Falls Breweries, Inc. and the Montana Brewing Company facility became the malt plant. The beer crate shows an all wood construction with yellow painted wood on the front, back and sides. It shows metal components on the back for opening and closing the top of the crate. The back of the crate reads, "Montana Brewing Co. Great Falls Mont." in black lettering. The front of the crate has other faded beer companies printed on the wood possibly from use after leaving the Montana Brewing Company. On the interior part of the lid it is lined with red and black cloth with floral decorations. The sides of the crate feature holes cut out for handling the box. Overall, the beer crate shows fair condition with faded paint and cracked wood. The crate measures 16" L x 24" W x 13 1/4" H.
